The Ag. Director of Immigration, Mr. Felix Yaw Sarpong has paid a courtesy call on the Managing Director of the New Times Corporation to introduce himself formally and also familiarize himself with their operations.

He expressed his optimism that the relationship between the Corporation and the Ghana Immigration service will continue to grow in the coming year.

Mr. Sarpong appealed to the Corporation to help the Service bring to the fore its duties, strategic plans and polices.

On border patrol,he said the Service will do all it can within its mandate to fortify the nation’s frontiers to prevent the infiltration of any unwanted elements into the country.

He mentioned that with the GIS Bill 2015, which is currently before parliament, when passed into law would enable the Border Patrol personnel to bear arms to protect the frontiers efficiently.

On her part the Managing Director of the New Times Corporation, Ms. Carol Annang, assured the Director that the Corporation will do its best to support the Service in any way it can especially in the area of publicity.

She urged the Service to intensify its surveillance at the borders in order to curb any unpleasant situation likely to jeopardize the security of the nation particularly now that terrorism and cross-border crimes are on the rise.

As part of the visit, the Ag. Director of GIS and his team were taken to the newsroom, Designing Department, Proof Reading and T.P. Sections, and Production Room.
