UPDATE ON THE GIS/ASHOK SIVARAM COURT CASE

 

1. The High Court Judge, Her Ladyship Naa Adorley Azu (MRS) today, 25TH of August, 2017 dismissed the abridgement of time to move the application for mandamus by counsel for the Indian businessman, Ashok Sivaram.
2. The court ordered the 2nd respondent to issue a temporary permit to applicant in order to enable him pursue his pending suit in court. Read more....

As directed by the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Agency (GRA) would by September this year, remove all internal barriers of Customs Checkpoints across the country as part of measures to bring more revenue into the country and intensify the facilitation of free flow of trade and goods. IMMIGRATION SERVICE COUNCIL INAUGURATED

Minister of the Interior, Hon. Ambrose Dery, has inaugurated a-13-member Immigration Service Council with a call on members to ensure the full implementation of the new Immigration Service Act and its accompanying Regulations which were passed a year ago.

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has for the first time in the history of the Service organized a pull - out ceremony for its first Comptroller – General, Felix Yaw Sarpong at the National Headquarters in Accra.
Mr. Sarpong, a career Immigration officer was enlisted into the Service on 2nd January, 1979 as a Trainee Officer Grade 11, when the Service was a department under the Ministry of Interior. He rose meritoriously through the ranks with discipline, dedication, commitment to duty and hard work and served in various capacities for 38 years. Read more..

dot West Africa Provides The Strongest Example of Intaregional Migration

The Project Officer for International Centre for Migration Project Development, (ICMPD) Lamine Daffe, has said that West Africa provides the strongest example of intraregional migration flow in sub-Saharan Africa, with 70 per cent of migratory movement is within the sub-region. This south-south migration according to him is seven times greater than the flows from West African countries to other parts of the world, including Europe. Read more....
